Even more independent web apps

In lieu of anything more informative to post (hey, I discovered Warcraft - if that’s not an excuse I don’t know what is), I’d like to link to a couple of new web applications launched recently by independent designer/developers.

Cart45 is a simple and easy-to-install ecommerce application developed by Phil Thompson with Soapy Co and Richard Morton. They’ve launched with a demo site quite literally selling itself, and some screencasts (sans sound, but that might just be me that is experiencing that).

And Olive is a “web app for web designers” by Sarah Parmenter for handling client requests, communication, and payment. Another one to keep an eye on (although in my experience some clients simply cannot be convinced to use anything other than the telephone and the occasional email to communicate).

  1. Phil Thompson Says:

Matthew - you’re not imagining a lack of sound on our screencasts - we couldn’t get the screencast audio to go through in one take without umming, erring and arring too much - which sounded dreadful so we knocked the sound off for the time being.

I had a quick look at Cart45 and it does look pretty comprehensive and well put together for a new app. I think a lot of web designers struggling with Actinic will be tempted to at least have a go with Cart45 given the price - but the demo without sound could be better ….
